Aurora Aksnes first musical memory was discovering a piano in her loft and being intrigued by its sounds. Jan Oystein Aksnes, her parents, May Britt Aksnes and Jan Oystein Aksnes, encouraged their daughter to learn music more as a hobby as a career. They advised her to compose. She is credited with Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen as well as Bjork as her main influences. Her mother encouraged her to perform her songs in public, not in order to gain fame but rather to let others know the importance of their work and the good they do to make a difference in the world. The piano was her first instrument, at six. She began creating music after turning nine. Her family didn't be aware until 14. Aurora had no idea of being a famous singer. According to her, she simply likes to write songs. For her, music is the most effective method of feeling anything.
